A weekend getaway...

We decided to getaway for the weekend! Something close by and not very expensive. We chose Tunica, Mississippi because we wanted to do some gambling at the casinos and Memphis was close by and I have always wanted to visit there. This is Beale St in Memphis. I realy enjoyed all the loud music coming from every bar on the street. I loved how they blocked off the road to traffic and everyone just walked where they wanted. We ate and drank at the Superior Bar. The music was fantastic. I didnt catch the singers name, but he was great. The food not so great.....I had barbecue. In the south, you expect your barbecue to be the best and this just wasnt the case here. The bar was very friendly though, I enjoyed it alot.
I wasnt expecting to see the Mississippi River, so this was a nice surprise. I could not believe how vast it was. The widest river by far I have ever seen. (It realy was muddy too, just like all those country songs describe it.) There was a very nice little sidewalk that ran by the river. I think this was on Front St. but not sure.

Tunica was a surprise. There was several casinos to choose from and they were all in the middle of hundreds of cotton fields. I thought South Alabama had alot of cotton fields. It had nothing on Mississippi. It truly was a 'land of cotton'. And of course, I had to pick me a few pieces. It still amazes me that this stuff actually grows from the ground. So soft and clean. I love cotton!

Whats a trip to Memphis without seeing Graceland? This really felt like a trip back in time. We payed enough for the tour though...I was surprised by how expensive. I thought it was money well spent though. I loved it!
They say flowers still come on the anniversary of his death and birthday. I never knew they buried him there.
The tour of the house was great. The grounds of this place were incredible. I enjoyed myself immensely on this trip. I was so glad we took it, even if it was only two nights.
We also went and see Miranda Lambert concert at the Goldstrike hotel. She was fantastic! I enjoyed myself. It was at a very small venue so we had great seats and could see her very clearly. She put on a great show.

finished a book today

I just finished reading 'Cold Mountain' by Charles Frazier. I am very upset about it. Yes, I watched the movie a few years ago when it came out. So....yes, I knew what was going to happen in the end, but that doesnt mean that I am happy about it. I cried, of course. It was beautifully written and I really enjoyed it. Why do I always read books without happy endings?

What I did labor day weekend.....

Last Friday night, the kids spent the night with Mom. I went to rent me and the hubby some movies to watch. There wasnt anything that I was dying to see out. So.........I just picked something.

I rented Adventureland. I had never even heard of it before, but I love Kristen Stewart in Twilight, and the same director of this one directed SuperBAd.....which I love! So I thought it should be pretty good, funny at the very least.

Let's just say I didnt like it in the very least bit without me actually having to tell you how bad it was. The only part that was any good.....was the man with the funny mustache...he plays the park operator in this movie, he also played one of the cops in Superbad. He had some funny moments. The rest of it was pretty bad!

I rented another me too, in case I didnt like that one.

I saw the preview of this one last year. It looked cute..............but I was wrong! It could have been cute, it realy could have been........but no, they decided to keep it boring. Which they did very well.
I must have broke some kind of bad movie record that night.

Saturday night we went and seen the new movie "All about Steve".

The preview on this one, made me want to see it. The critics said it was awful, but the previews were so good how could I resist. We went and seen it and I absolutely loved it. It was hilarious. I might say it was my favorite Sandra Bullock movie ever. (I tend to not like her movies)

The red boots are a must have for me, I think their hot!

Labor Day, I took the kids on a hike to Noccalula Falls.

It's probably not quite a mile hike, but the uphill, downhill, and boulder jumping made up for it not being long. My legs still are achy two days later!

It's been awhile....

I have been neglecting my blog bad, lately! I have been so out of my usual routine and feel like I am lost in my own little world lately. Even my kids have been complaining. I have still been creating, but much slower than usual. I did manage to get this made and shipped out, but I thought I would list it for sale, made to order. Get the details here at my shop. This was a custom baby quilt. Feel free if you like the pattern to swap fabrics in and out as you wish.

What great folks we have on Etsy!

I just wanted to brag about Etsy for a minute. I just sold a diaper bag to someone, who requested fabric that I always have available in town. Well the store did not have it and said that it would be awhile before they got it in. I searched online. I searched Etsy. No luck! I did find a seller who had some similar fabrics in her shop, I asked her if she could get it. She agreed and only charged me what the fabric cost her plus for Etsy and Paypal fees. I thought WOW! What a great person. She doesnt get anything out of it. She's basically just helping me out for free. I just wanted to say a big fat THANK YOU to Dawn of LITTLE ONE BOUTIQUE. She not only is a fantastic person, her shop is realy cute! She has some great stuff in there. Please, please, check her out. It will definately be worth it.

July has been tough!

I thought I would post what has been going on with me in July, since I havent been posting regularly enough.
I bought fabric on Etsy, from someone I had never bought from before. I bought it specifically for a custom order I was filling. It's home decor fabric, so you know its high priced. It smelled unmistakenly like stale cigarettes. (which I despise) I cant leave a negative comment cause its just not me, the seller apologized, but what are you gonna do?
I was attacked on my foot by a wasp who had it in for me while watering my flowers on my front porch. I am highly allergic. I of course the drama queen, am in pain. My kids call me a big baby, my husband says I overeact. I go to leave the house to get some tobacco to put on it at the store, he stings me again! same foot! Now its all over, I am in tears. My husband leaves work sprays all around the house for them. I handle my foot with the tobacco and head off to the fabric store. I have orders to fill. My foot is not doing too bad, maybe I have outgrown my allery.
Next morning, I wake to find my foot has doubled in size. My husband offers to take me to the doc, but I will be okay and work it out myself. It will go away surely.
My husbands step dad has been put in the hospital, it does not look good. His nephew just had a baby. I rush to get a quilt made with my swollen foot for the baby. We head to Birmingham where they are both at. We stop by to see the new baby first. I am hobbling through the parking lot, swollen foot and all. We meet baby and then head to another hospital to visit his step dad. I hobble around again. My foot is now turning blue. I may actually have to go to the doctor.
Next morning, my foot looks like it might be infected. I am leaving for the beach in two days. I break down and head for the doctor. They give me a shot and send me on my way.
We head to the beach. My foot is looking better. I'm feeling better. Florida is gorgeous. The kids, love riding those little go karts. So we take them to do that. This is a NO BUMPING go kart track. Light turns green and I head out. I dont get 10 feet when I am bumped spun around and then hit a large piece of metal. I reacted very quickly, and turned around and said "What is wrong with you?!" in a not so nice voice (I had gave my children the rules, it was their first go kart ride. They new the no bumping policy). When I turned around, it was not my child that had hit me, it was another kid, who had started crying immediately. Oh, I felt so bad. I should have. I just fussed at someone else's kid and made him cry. However, the kid wrecked me and broke my go kart. His parents must not have told him the rules.
Back in Alabama, Wade's step dad has passed away. They werent that close, but it was all still very sad. We drive to Birmingham two days in a row to attend the viewing and funeral.
My children had stayed with my mother while we were at the funeral. While driving home to get them, my mother called me very frantic that Gage my youngest, had been bitten by my grandmothers Great Dane. We head straight to the emergency room to meet them. Sure enough there is one nasty dog bite. I could go into graphic details, but you wouldnt want me to. He has to get stitches and he is not the bravest kid you ever met.
Well there you have it. This has been quite the busy month.
